Happy 77th birthday Ringo

As it says on the tin, General and off Topic area, talk about anything in here (within reason!)

I met Ringo in the late 60s at Surbiton Town Kart Racing Club. He arrived in a Mercedes 600 for a drive in a Class 1 100cc kart. He managed to spin off so I helped him restart...

I used to race around the Kart track in the early 80s when I was in to BMX bikes.

Surbiton Town Kart Racing Club based at Worcester Park, was very close to a posh housing estate. Residents always moaned about excess noise and eventually managed to close down the club entirely around late 70's / early 80's. The Gange family were prominent in running the club.

Some years late, Reg Gange Snr started a concession kart business based on the old track - they are much quieter than proper racing karts. Reg Gange Jnr became a works driver for Zip securing the 250 World Championship in 1984. Reg still races indecently quickly in Retroracer 250 Classic karts (pre-1982)...

Maybe the Merc was white. But with the Beatles' wealth, Ringo could have had several...
