Can anyone identify this object and suggest which component on our cars shares common features and potential application :?:

It's a Prince Albert. The link is the 28bhp A30 engine, which likewise inhibits over-excitement.

Great answer but you would not want to wear that thing coupled to a Prince Albert...

Mrs Clem says it looks like a darning mushroom, that she vaguely remembers from the days when she darned my socks. She says they didn't need batteries but may be jolly useful for darning up holes in Austin upholstery.

It's obviously the plug for allowing water out of the foot wells.

Alpha Suds had at least 5.

No it's completely solid.

Afraid not, even with batteries...

Alfa Suds rusted like nothing else. Looked at buying one in 1986 but it had rust holes in middle of front bulkhead... Sorry Phil, it's not even rubber.

Clue - Scale of this thing is on the larger side...

A mate bought one new and within a fortnight he was knee deep in water. Floor rotted within 12 months.

I loved my Alfasuds! I also practised a lot of welding!

I'd say the 803cc engine - it's best use would be as an anchor

Congratulations Beko - absolutely spot on...
But Chris T's suggestion of coupling a boat anchor to your genitals should go down in history... :rol:

think ive said it before but if a painter was any good, why do they always seem to be covered in paint? if you were paying for labour and materials and saw what didn't go on your walls/ceilings and what went on your 'painter' then you'd think again about what you were paying out for.

You should have contacted ALFA then ;-) (predictive text on? )

The later cars were much, much better ...

Oh wait, "Sorry sir. Your Alfa 156 has rust in the footwells .. that's a fail." ... and apparently that rust was also in the inner sill, inner wing, wheel arch ....

Sounds like an Austin but the Alfa was only a teenager at 18 years old (and 210,000 miles) .... oops!!!
