the beer thread

As it says on the tin, General and off Topic area, talk about anything in here (within reason!)

I was given some beer the other day but sadly it was Fosters Gold lager and Batemans XXXB, neither of which I would drink out of choice. However, the resulting Batemans shandy was quite exceptional in the circumstances...

apparently Fosters can be used in emergencies, to cool down an overheating radiator!

I was given some beer for my birthday,
Any body interrested in the verdict when I get around to trying them?

Went to sunny Cornwall last week - "Phew what a scorcher" as they say.
On the way down, we called at the Jamaica Inn for liquid refreshment. As a recent convert to blond beer, I asked the barman what he had in the way of blonds. His shocked expression suggested he thought that I was making an improper request and I suspect only the presence of my wife stopped me being asked to leave. "Never heard of that, what is it?" .
I made do with a Stella and we went on our way.
A similar request at the St. Austell Premier Inn that night (we like to travel in style!) provoked the same result, at which point Management forbade any further such requests in case we were thrown out of Cornwall.

It's a fair run from Yorkshire to Cornwall...and then to nearly get expelled! Crikey, how exciting. And over beer too

How unfortunate to have travelled all that distance and not seen the splendid St Austell brewery and its visitor centre tasting room: https://www.staustellbreweryvisitorcentre.co.uk/
