As it says on the tin, General and off Topic area, talk about anything in here (within reason!)

I really enjoy making cakes, and used to enjoy eating them. About 5 years ago I just stopped enjoying them, and all other sweet things..like ice cream. Almost happened overnight. It's really annoying and I just hope that I don't go off beer or women suddenly. Life wouldn't be worth living... :(

I've also been baking some cakes I've been tinkering with a recipe for a honey and raisin cake and I think I've got it almost right, I have also re discovered banana cake

I must say you are posh Neil cutting the cake with a knife in the workshops. When I was on the tools many moons ago the guys would just whip out the metal 12 inch rule out of the overall side pocket a quick wipe down the overalls, (which were already greasy) and then slice up the cake or as I remember the Saturday morning pork pie on the greasy bench laid on brown paper mind!
Boy did it taste good with the mug of tea!

John G
Reminds me of a tale that Blaster Bates used to tell of when he was clearing tree roots for an extension to the gardens of remembrance at the local crematorium. Lunch time was spent with the grave diggers at the adjacent cemetery, one of whom whipped his pork pie away and returned with it five minutes later with the juice dripping out of it (pre microwave ovens of course...). When asked how he managed that he replied, "They don't turn them ovens off at lunch time you know..."
