YDV 624 rebuild: Fuse box and regulator

Post by Mark Higgitt »

Planning ahead this morning as it's too cold to do anything else.
Austin the Austin's fusebox and regulator were beyond rescuing when we stripped the car down, almost eight years ago.
I've opted for an alternator, rather than a dynamo, and will be using a new BM loom that has already been fitted.
Being a non-expert where electrics are concerned, does that upgrade in any way affect the need to replace the regulator?
I have a dim memory of someone at a Malvern autojumble advising me that I won't need one, but I'd prefer to advance on the basis of forum guidance, rather than a fleeting memory of an unexpected conversation when my mind, not un-naturally, was more on where I could find a bacon butty.
Thanks in anticipation!

Thanks, Gazza82.
A link to my own previous posting! Is that a first?
Don't know whether to feel embarrassed by my poor recollection (a lot has happened in the past year) or quietly chuffed that I'd planned so far ahead.
Whichever, thanks to that and Alan's help, I feel equipped to press on now.
Regards,

Mark
