AS3 spotted for sale in Canada

Post by Longbranch »

Hello all

Does anyone have an approximate build date for this car?

Car No. AS3L 67xx
Engine No. 2A 65xx

It's in pretty poor shape but cheap at £225 ($400 CDN)

Problem is that it's 1200 miles from me.

Brock

Hi Brock,
Early 1953. According to Barney ('Post War Baby Austins') 4,000 were produced in 1952 (chassis numbers starting 101) and 26,036 from Jan to Oct 1953.

May not be as bad as you think. It looks as if someone started to restore it and gave up but didn,t cover up the bare metal.

Certainly in the UK it would be worth the asking price just as a parts car

From the solitary photo and given the age of the car, it looks pretty good and well worth saving....
Most parts are available s/h from the UK with a steadily increasing number of new parts for the AS3 too.

Have you seen underneath? The top doesn't look too bad but the lookout on the Titanic probably thought that.

Nope. 1200 miles away. ( just for reference. A trip from Brummy to Warsaw, Poland...)

However, being an early export AS3, it it very worthy of being saved irrespective of the state of the floor. Bearing in mind the correct floor pressings are available.....

Are AS3 floor pressings different from the "normal" repair sections?
