Wing Repairs

Post by ian24ian »

Does anybody make headlight ring/wing repair panels, my wing has sort of turned to dust in this area, I need to repair this top area, If not are there any suitable donor wings that can yield a suitable repair section other than A35, Classic Mini perhaps.........

There are two main suppliers of panels; Paul Clayton sells the 'Dutch' panels and Bull Motif who sell Phil Kolbe's panels. BM certainly used to sell this repair panel and it might be worth asking them if they still stock it ZZ326 was the code.

Closest on their site looks like ZZ327(B)R but that is the full height repair section

Or possibly ZZ331R, but with no image it is hard to tell ..

About three/four years ago I was after that section for my A30 EMD but could not source it? I would have thought that would be available?

Hello - I have just bought these two wing repair panels from BM as the front of both my wings are really corroded - not cheap at around £85 each but given the cost of good wings this is all relative. In addition to welding to the rest of the wing, they are fabricated from pieces and not pressed from one sheet so will need further work to ensure all the joints are completely smooth when painted. They do include the headlight mounting ring but you will need to cut out the hole for the indicator. If you don't have the skill to make these as I don't yet, I don't see much choice at present. The alternative and probably cheaper option is the fibreglass wings but personally I prefer the steel wings.
