Missed this thread first time around. You are doing good work, Alan. Been too busy to play much of late. If you fancy a road trip when you finish the near side, we have a comfy bed and a couple of fine pubs nearby.

i spent yesterday welding the wing up and have finished that. i spent this afternoon after cutting rust out, making new repair panels. trial fitment tomorrow and then i'll sit back, take a well deserved rest and open a nice bottle of cab sav red.

Just a comment - hope that's ok. There are less restrictive air filters available for SUs which will release more power (and reduce pumping losses near WOT). Worth maximising filter area and distance between outer plate and carb inlet. Always found K&Ns work really well :D

With just 948cc, you need all the power available

not been too busy lately as i have been here there and everywhere. i'm staying put now for a few months....... i've had a couple of days out from the rat race and decided to enhance the car a little more......

today i removed the grill and rad to flush the rad and change the coolant as it almost time for the winter.

Image

a month or so ago, a mate had purchased an electric fan that he'd been using on his scimitar. he decided to use a different fan and gave the other one to me! so in it went

Image

can't say i found it that hard to do. i made up 4 brackets and fitted it between the grill and the rad. i have fitted it to a simple on/off switch that is positioned next to the temp gauge under the dash. after a blast around the block for 10 miles or so, the gauge hardly moved, although it is running a little hotter that before when i had the mechanical fan running all the time. i reckon on it not being used too much anyway. all the coolant has been changed and i will be looking at adjusting the tappets and an oil change next!

then over the winter, i am going to change the 2 front shocks as i think they need some attention as the car 'bounces' up and down the road at speed.

till next time........

That fan is about twice the size as the one I have so you wont have any cooling problems there .

Alan, is the engine much quieter without the fan?
