Hey Nick
Credit where its due here! You must have some resolve thats a test of any man and you are in there!
What welding gear do you use? I have used welding gear in the past but never rated my weld. In fact on some electric welding I did once, one guy commented it looked like a pigeon had been involved. I think most members kniow what i mean here!
Keep up the outstanding work
Regards
John G

Re: A40 Farina Countryman restoration
Well done with the A40 Farina restoration you have really inspired me into restoring my MK2 Countryman. My countryman is a 1961 model which was forced off the road due to a worn front suspension. These A40's are particulary popular with the banger racers here in Malta due to thier size and sturdyness. I managed to save mine from the demolition track just in time and it now rests patientely amony my other two Austins (an A35 and an Austin 1300GT) in my garage awaiting to be restored. Although it has its fair share of rust, with the worst affected areas being the front footwells it is still in solid condition bodywise thanks to Malta's warm climate. My biggest fear is finding chrome bits such as the front grill and bumpers together with other cosmetic items such as side chrome strips etc. I will post a few pics of my Austin in the coming days.
Regards to all.

Re: A40 Farina Countryman restoration
thanks Dun, look forward to starting a restoration thread on all your B.M.C models, sounds like your MK2 Countryman is in very good condition other than the front floors, you should visit & join the A40 Farina Club website as well http://www.a40farinaclub.co.uk/page.php?2dunA35 wrote:Well done with the A40 Farina restoration you have really inspired me into restoring my MK2 Countryman. Re: A40 Farina Countryman restoration
Hi Nick,
Thanks for the information, yes I intend to become a member of this club in the near future. Well my A40 requires a full restoration but is rather sound bodywise, worst bits are the chrome work, grill etc which really make the car look very shabby!! I also intend to get its motoring heritage certificate before I start the resto and in this way I would be able to confirm its original body colour and interior. The original owner told me it has always been white with a dark red roof and red interior.Could that be possible or should that be white with a black roof?
Best Regards
Duncan

Re: A40 Farina Countryman restoration
the U.K built MK2's were Snowberry White with a Cumulus Grey roof but we have found some odd colour schemes with some export models so the original owner may be right?dunA35 wrote:Hi Nick,
