That sure is a labour of love - but i agree with you - if you can weld and have the necesary metal fabrication skills it need not cost a lot to repair damage even this bad, just LOTS of time. I've repaired cars as bad (possibly worse) but not an Austin - might upload a few photos of those for interest as/when I can scan them

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread Nick and look forward to further posts. You must have tremendous satisfaction having recreated all of that non-existent bodywork! :)

thanks Beko, i enjoy doing it & to see the end result finally hit the road again, looking at my A30 the bodywork is a little more complex on the A40 with more curves etc

Wow that really is such impressive work. This was such an attractive little car from the pictures in 1989, I don't know how someone could have let it deteriorate to that extent.

Looking for a summer completion date?

Have you fabricated all of the repair panels yourself Nick, or are any available?

I mended the front end of one of these a couple of years ago, which entailed making a new valance, crossmember and repairs to the rad support panel, but it was nothing like as bad as this.

our spares guy in the club makes things like wing bottoms, front aprons/crossmembers & inner sills but things like floors he hasn't tackled yet as there is only mad ones like me that would tackle basket cases like this one
