Re: 181 FFC Rolling Resto
Came to move 181 by just pushing by hand and wouldnt budge, no handbrake on and not in gear. Jacked back up N/S rear locked. I had that drum off recently and fitted another wheel from EMD. Slackened wheel nuts hey presto rotated? Any comments anybody. Fitted another wheel appeared ok then got on with washing wheels taken off 181. (See EMD)

Re: 181 FFC Rolling Resto
Did the last of the under-sealing of the wheel arches with front N/S also checked brakes etc
Cleaned out the factory lifting point box section no wonder they rot. Thats both sides done now. See the amount of carp removed that would hold moisture in there. Luckily my car is in a dry garage so generally is always dry. Fill with waxoyl blocked off and under-sealed
Another winter preventative maintenance session done .

Re: 181 FFC Rolling Resto
Zenith Carb has been leaking again. The cork gasket I fitted to the emulsion block appears to have broken up
So took float chamber off made two gaskets for the emulsion block to get the thickness and a gasket for the float chamber upper face
Removed all jets, blew them out with bike pump and same with drillings, re-build with some blue hylomar gasket seal to assist air tight seal at float to main carburretter mating faces
Seems ok and float chamber not draining off now

Re: 181 FFC Rolling Resto
Fitted some front floor well, bulkhead and tunnel carpets that got from Pete Norbury its tidied the front up inside a little. Also got my new rubber mats in. I think they were 99p each from either wilko or tesco?
Still got the original red rubber mats that came with 181 although they are a little worse for wear and age. Too tatty to use

Re: 181 FFC Rolling Resto
181's inner door seals have perished since I fitted new ones in 1984. Things just dont last anymore do they?
Anyway fitted two new ones to 181 today, that were left over from EMD as the doors were difficult to close on EMD with these so fitted mini ones on EMD, .........well a mixture
Doors close ok on 181, a little tighter on the drivers side though

I there John that's just what I wanted to see the part you are replacing on your car door frame haven't seen any thing much like that over here yet , I am looking for the same thing only a fawn to light brown colour, do they sell any thing like that over there, Scots Auto Rubber I think only do black, yuck for my Interior,
I have seen a fawny colour one but no Rubber on the side, and all plastic no metal clips.
Your winter maitainance is nearly a resto ,but agood Idea though over there with your winter's, dust seems to be the problem here at the moment,no rain only a drible's now and then,if any one know's of different colour seals other than the standard A30 Colour's could you please let me know, many thanks .
Eddie

I got that door inner seal with the fabric on from Pete Norbury
Couldnt fit this on the A30 though as the doors were not a good accurate fit so fitted the all rubber mini seals
I havestill to fit the thick door seals onto the actual doors too so another job coming up, also same with the boot rubber seals
