I recommend you self tapper them in place until you're happy that the door fits the hole again. It can all be welded up with the door in place...

The car arrived with no bumper mounting on the near side. It's rare for these to be rusted and when I've had to repair them in the past I've usually managed to salvage a second hand item. This time my stocks were depleted so I made this from scratch and have made templates so that it can be easily repeated in the future...

Matt eventually intends to tow the car behind his motorhome, hence the continuous welding...

An other piece I've never completely remade before. This one has been horribly repaired twice in the past, all by overplating so it has started to deteriorate again. There was little choice but to start afresh...

First off we make a flexible shape pattern with two layers of packaging tape... I mad this pattern from a sound vehicle. If you don't have one to copy you can fake what you have up with body filler to take a pattern from...

I have just been bought two pairs of work trousers for my birthday and cannot get used to the pockets, there are too many! There are two floppy pockets stitched outside the trousers in front of the front pockets  it's madness I tell thee

Most of the panels I make are from 1mm, but there are odd bits of the cars that use 1.2mm, 1.6mm and the occasional 2mm... For example the front valance is 1.6mm. The bits I had to make for the front bumper support bracket, the flat plate is 1.2mm and other piece is 1.6mm. The inner sills are the only panels I make from thicker than original material (1.2mm rather than 1mm) because I've found they distort too much when welding...

I do still have the original however it's attached to the bumper iron and wouldn't have been savable
