I know this may be a bit of a shock but after 10 years of silver wheels Dinky goes to the right colour

Just in case anyone is confused Dinky is the cars name and I the owner am Bryan. Dinky is a 1958 Austin A35 painted Maroon.

Any suggestion of it being an A30 painted green is just a small inaccuracy (sidelights October 2014 pages 58-59) in an excellent magazine

Mind you the chrome grill is an A30 one so I am guilty of causing confusion from a distance :rol:

My owner says I must tell you the fuel tank saga but as it is long and boring I will only mention the highlights.

For a while now I have had a horrible pain in my tank spreading to my pump and carb when being driven. It got so bad I just had to stop and suffer the indignity of two orange flashing ambulances bringing me home on a flatbed. My wonderful owner tried to fix me but the diagnosis was severe. I had rust in my petrol causing blockages and hardening of the fuel ways. A tank replacement with open pump and carb surgery was needed.

A replacement tank and emergency operating theatre were sourced thanks to Dave Clark and I managed to make my way into it unaided. With my tank off and my bottom stuck up in the air I had an extra shock when my fuel line was examined and rejected as too grotty. Half of it is now copper with new unions and olives.

With my replacement than on I thought I was ready to face the world but testing caused me more pain and I just had to stop. A really nice pajero and his owner pulled me home and I once again had my tank removed. A few bits dislodged by petrol had blocked my intake but some flushing has got them out. Will I make it to a show at Amberley this sunday? I hope so but I am to be tested today so I'm crossing my flying A that I am OK now.

Good news, Dinky now has an MOT for the first time in 7 years following a lengthy stay at the menders. As a bit of a test run I took him 285 miles to do a show in Penhryn quarry, north Wales as you do. Photos to follow

I like the idea that someone who is not biased checking that my car is roadworthy but knowing your skill I'm not surprised you don't want that.

yes but i check my own & you can usually tell by the 'feel' if there is something amiss, remember an MOT is only checking the vehicle on 'that' day

On drive it day my group did a drive round the new forest. After the run I visited a few of the sights.

I had an encounter with some donkeys

Then he got closer

Then he came in

The natives were friendly I'm glad to say.
