Vince A30 wrote::wow: that is a tidy job ! fantastic workmanship Nick, and I have to say that detailed photo's like this are such a brilliant reference point for those of us that are about to start chasing the dreaded tinworm around.
What rust proofer are you using for the bare metal ? I'm attacking mine with the grinder in the next couple of weeks and just wondered what you'd recommend ?
Cheers.
Vince.
thanks Vince, i'll only use Bilt Hamber

Just before I went away I put some parts in a Deox-C mix ... Had a look today which would be about about 14 days in the solution. Wow!

Rusty brake shoe levers back to metal, timing chain cover shiny, and brake back plates back to metal when you remove the remains of the flaky pait.

And not sure I mixed the right amounts or used hot water.

Solution is black now though.

Need to check how to get rid of the remaining solution now.

Bilt Hamber suggest that it is harmless and can go in the drains.

Definitely not pouring this down the sink! Even though my kitchen sink is already black!!! (yes, it was made that way and isn't a result of my DIY car mechanics!)

My external drains (downpipes) go to soakaways ... so not sure I want to do that either ..

So maybe the one at the rear of the house that comes from the washing machine .. might clean up the drainage pipes too!

Well, perhaps frowned on these days, but if it is supposedly drain safe, I'd do a Bernard Cribbins..
