PCJ 447 A2S5 Recommissioning

Post by A40FARINAGURU »

NAM is taking a step back, bought PCJ 447 last weekend from Hereford, it has been off the road since 1983, armed with wheels got it moved & towed it back, the engine was free so i thought i'd try & fire it up, put a dummy fuel line in & a battery on, cleaned the points & spun it over & it fired up but was knocking it's head off, i switched it off & sorted out the oil light & tried again, same problem oil light didn't go out, mmmm, perhaps the oil pump was dry?, couldn't get access to the nut on the block so off with the manifold well moved over, remove one manifold stud & got a socket on it & undid it, pumped some oil in & put it back together, tried starting it again, hey presto the oil light when out & it ran quiet, oh & it drives, the clutch was free, it has the original sills on it, the floors are great, just needs a little work on the o/s rear corner drop plate & a little work on the wings & front apron, there were no brakes on the front so i'm fitting A40 front brakes on it, be looking out for more parts now, see the wanted section....

I think Austin designed an in built self waxoyling system in the form of oil and grease leaks

The only problem is that it only protects the centre of the car, from the master cylinder out the Austin waxoyl system seems to have limited effect.
