A Racing Certainty...
Have done lots of repairs to the hinge supports in the past but never one as bad as this...
Made a new panel...
Got a bit more done on the A post repair. Most of the panels made now, just got the transition panels that link them to the sills to finish.
A step closer...

Re: A Racing Certainty...
I often wonder myself...
Seriously, these parts were all made with patterns and templates taken from and with reference to a new/old stock panel that I've nursed for the last 35 years. There's little difference fitting these to fitting an original panel on a crashed vehicle except that I know that the sound metal I've cut back to is all in the right place...

What do you treat your metalwork with, Neil? Dinitrol or something else?

Re: A Racing Certainty...
The seams are all sprayed with zinc rich weld through primer before assembly. This one will be going for blasting when its welding is complete so not too much of a problem at the moment. I tend to favour a 2 pack epoxy primer but don't do spraying myself so leave that to the painters...

Not at all, Richard. I love doing what I do and hope that by posting my efforts it might encourage and inspire others to have a go as well. Besides I dare bet that, over the last 45 years I've scrapped more Baby Austins than anyone on here...earthhist wrote:

The latest progress...
I've got the new panel welded in and the top hinge support bracket in place. I decided that before the bottom hinge supports go in the rotten door needed repairing.
The door frame was rotten as well as the outer skin so new metal was let in as necessary...
The front end needs what's pretty much standard work on every car now, the new valance, radiator support panel and repairs to the flitch panels...
