The slam panel was retained from the original panel and attached to the new with a joddled spot welded joint.

Another first. Have replaced loads of ends but have never made this much of a heel board before. The other side is in a similar mess and will be replaced as well...

How about talking us through how you flared the rear arches by 40mm, any photos and tips?

And is it going to have steel or fibre glass front wings?
Some pictures taken today of the latest shell. As you can see a new panel has been made for the front portion of the quarter panel. The arch was badly rusted so it would have needed replacing in an case. You can also see where the inner arch has been cut away and replaced by a panel that continues the line of the arch tub. Cutting away the lower portion of the rear wing allows the remaining panel to be manipulated to where it needs to be to clear the tyre. The bottom, as is usual on project cars, was non existent so not a problem. Removing it enabled the quadrants to be replaced and the bumper mount to be repaired...

Not sure how Neil finds time for metal work between sampling various "brown sticky brews" ..

Neil
This looks like it has been dipped to remove all paint ?

Will it be dipped again in paint so that there is no bare metal left ?

I use the Dinitrol wax and have also used their rust converter as well... Think it's called FE 123. That said I prefer to get rid of the rust if at all possible by blasting or acid dipping

If I may put my pedant hat on for a moment, the shells go through a multi stage process to emerge like this. The paint, grease, seam sealer, underseal etc is removed in a controlled burning process. The dipping part of it is to remove the rust...

This one arrived in bare metal and is scheduled to leave the same way...

Another panel I've never had to make. It's had a horrible repair in the past and further corrosion, particularly in the seam where it meets the bulkhead, necessitates it's replacement...
