Roll Over Beethoven

Post by northernboy »

Got Beethoven from David this morning - 220 mile round trip but worth every mile.

As you can see LFO675 is now much easier to work on underneath.

Beethoven was easy to assemble and I got the car rotated in under two hours.

Note the extra straps I have hung from my hoist points just as an extra safety measure.

Now the real work starts :)

Thanks Countryboy and David

I,m amazed that it can be used in what looks like a single garage.

When Steven made this I was equally amazed that it could be rotated with one finger.

This because it is perfectly balanced with a bare shell and attaches on the original Rotodip points

Wow Nick, that is very impressive, Unlike your A35 you do not hang around
It was great meeting you today, and I am sure that you will be ready for Goodwood next year.

Re: LFO675 Restoration Continues :)

Post by northernboy »

Quick update - between my frequent business trips I have now got most of the filthy work done, removing old underseal was a b***h and then hours with a wire brush on an angle grinder creating clouds of dust. The exposed shell is now ready for rusty panel replacement. I need to replace a number at the front, sills, and arches so will start at the front and work backwards taking care not to cut too much out at once to retain the proper shape of the shell. I have used Bull Motif for the first batch of panels they delivered very quickly and the quality looks good - lets see how my welding is now. They seem to get a lot of bad press but lets se how it goes.

Glad I decided to fully check the sills as one was has been replaced at some time using what looks like scrap metal and two tons of filler to re create the profile. Needless to say it is all coming off.

I have also been working my way through the individual parts that have come off the car, cleaning, restoring and painting as required. This is no small task as am sure many of you know.

PS the roll over jig (Beethoven) is just great - I don't know I could have done this otherwise without a proper car lift.

Looking good NorthernBoy
When the new metal starts to go in it gets less daunting IMHO.
Concentrate on one area at a time and get some primer on it straight away. Do be aware that primer is porous.
