Modified A35. Anyone know any more?

Post by Neil Evans »

Found this photo today...

That was on FB under the modified group. Think it might be in Ireland.

Someone posted on there ...
Its not photo shop, they've even cut away the bonnet drip channel to squeeze it in as it won't slide in from underneath unless they take the heads off, and without cutting the shock towers out they can't fit the headers.....looks like someone started and gave up.

Wilsons Auctions Yard Belfast apparently and was on fleabay .. sounds like the suspension areas have been "modified" to fit the exhaust headers in .. ie there isn't much left!

Cut the front bulkhead, move the engine back several inches, fabricate space frame for front end (or even full space frame), custom front suspension - something along the lines of Peter Brock's A30...

Could stand some chance of working properly...

I think the inside of that car is hideous.

:iagree: That's the result of fitting a grossly oversized and heavy engine into a little car, but at least Peter Brock's racing A30 worked tolerably well. Unlike the car with Lexus engine which is very naive...

Function over form ... there is a huge Holden straight-6 in front of that bulkhead. It was an out and out race car in Australia. I think it took part in the Bathurst ... where you have to watch out for stray kangaroos on the circuit! :-)
