exhaust systems

Post by Alan »

Maniflow exhaust systems. these are quite well known, but ive only just heard of them.

I see these are performance exhausts. are these specifically for 1275 engine cars? would they work on a standard 948/1098 road car?

look to be a nice bit of kit, but seem expensive.

any owners have them?

Alan,
When i talked to them they said it would work for both the 948 or 1275 but if you are sticking with a 948, let them know as they'll make the manifold shorter.

Yes

There were problems I understand with the larger bore race system

For my pootling 1275cc Daily Driver I've just fitted a subtly bigger bore stainless system made on the jig that Neil helped to develop recently. It's a 1.5" pipe to match a 12G 3538 Marina(?) manifold I've had squirrelled away for a rainy day. Straight-through silencer. It's noticeably quieter than the 20-year old standard bore S/S A35 (straight-through) system it replaced and feels noticeably more relaxed at all speeds. Early indications (only 150 miles so far) suggest better MPG figures too. The squeamish may baulk at the £240 + P&P price, but it’s a one-off and it fits. And being S/S, it may see me out.
