Hello Everyone
My A30 project is now a "work in progress". Car is basically solid with a few frayed edges....Plan is to modify car using parts and upgrades that would have been available in the early to mid 1960,s with maybe a few hidden modern improvements. I have made a start on brakes and suspension. Pictures attached show rebuild front suspension using frogeye sprite brakes and up-rated Midget lever arms. Everything was stripped, shot blasted and repainted with all bushes and brake parts replaced . Rear brakes will also be converted to frogeye...basically because they were already in the shed!. The rather nasty A&E picture is what happens if you do not full compress a coil spring and the spring pans slips on the jack with your finger in the way!!

Hope that soon heals up.

Are Frogeye drum brakes not the same as an A35 ?

Cylinders, Adjuster and hubs are different...and to be honest I already had them. The cylinders are much cheaper than A35

Brake cylinders are different, Brake Adjustment method is different. I did originally try to use my existing A35 hubs with this set up however they catch on the wheel cylinders. Frogeye hubs are relieved in this area and work fine. I will try and add a few pictures showing the difference

Looks like a Morris Minor set up, assume they are same and therefore available and cheap. Girling instead of Lockheed, most Frogs have been converted to discs so there should be a few of these lying about collecting dust in garages

Picture of Frogeye vs A35 Brakes. I think as stated they are based on MM brakes hence very cheap and easy to obtain. I considered the disc brake option but effectively you are paying silly money for parts that will need a full rebuild and I want to build something that was obtainable in the early to mid 1960,s(and Cheap then!!) So frogeye Brakes, tuned 948 engine....just reading up on porting 12G202 head

I thought the 12G295 head was a better option for a 948. I had one on my 998 mini with and SU and a different needle as detailed in David Vizards book.

To be honest I looked at several 12G295 heads, most in very poor condition and very expensive. I looked at Vizards book at also the web site of Russell Engineering who had done a small bore mini engine based on the 202 head....plus I only paid £20 for it

Interesting, how much did Russell charge to modify the cylinder head?
