front chassis brace?

Post by Jimbo »

Sorry but another question Is it a good idea to weld a brace between the front chassis legs either where the MG front anti rill bar fits or at the front of the chassis leg? Ive got the ARB alloy mounting blocks that fit to the side of the pan & also fit to the chassis leg.

My simple answer is yes although I would bolt it as removal allows good access.

Believe Rae Davis has already discovered this trick. His front ARB mounts appear to be braced but I've not looked closely, only in photos.

Evo2 suffers some instability under heavy braking at high speed (>105mph). Aerodynamics definitely play a part but suspect chassis deflection could be a factor. Brace is high on the modification list...

It also is a useful place to jack the front up.
