Hi Everyone. I've just bought a 1955 A30 Seven to keep me occupied in retirement. The car hasn't been restored but has been reasonably looked after all its life ... all of which has been in the Carmarthenshire area of Wales.
It was used on a regular basis but as I bought it from someone who just wanted to sell it on, I wondered if there is a remote chance that any members know the car or previous owners where I can gather some history.
The reg is LBX 543 and she's black. Looking forward to participating in the Club. John

Hi John. Welcome. 'Nelly' is also a 1955 black A30. Looks like yours has been treated to a 948cc engine at some point, so no racing us up a hill!

It seems yours is just a couple of weeks older than Nelly :)

Yes, 948 cc engine fitted at some point. Does that spoil things for the purist do you think?

948 is one of the best A series engines, nice strong and revy ;) The 803 originally in the A30 was one of the weaker ones with poor crankshaft bearings and non full through oil filteration. Still loads going strong now of course but tend to have to be treated more carefully than the sturdier 948. The 948 does give more power but retains the feel so in practical terms is a better bet for modern driving conditions. All personal choice of course.

For more history on the car you can apply to the DVLA for all previous records and to the BMIHT for a heritage certificate too.
