Belvoir Vale Group meeting tonight

Post by Neil Evans »

The Belvoir Vale Group are meeting tonight at the Manners Arms, Knipton... NG32 1RH

We'll be discussing where to go for our annual meal and the way forward for the group, ie, whether we move back to the Unicorn when it finally reopens, or find an alternative watering hole in the vale as whilst 'The Manners' has excellent choice of beer they struggle to accommodate us at times... We'll also going to look at holding some more of our popular hands on maintenance and restoration days when the weather warms up a bit and need some input on what subjects you'd like us to cover...

We had seven members come and two apologies, so not a bad turn out for a murky wednesday in january. Photo to follow, hopefully. No Austins though, everyone in their modern's. Consensus was we stay at Knipton for next month. For the meal in march we've elected to return briefly to the Gap Inn at Muston, where we met for a few months immediately after the fire. Here, members can chose what they want from the permanent carvery. This way, nobody has to organise the meal or take bookings, deposits etc, we just turn up and go. Organising formal meals in the past has always a nightmare and one to avoid if possible.

It would have been nice to return to the Unicorn at Langar for the meal to show our support for the place as they always ran a good carvery but the website says it's to reopen at the end of the month. However it's been saying that for several months now. Was reopening in november, then for xmas, now the end of the month. We couldn't organise anything with the uncertainty so the Gap Inn it is.

In the past for technical days we've done one big item, gearbox overhaul, fitting a wiring loom etc but the suggestions this time were for lesser jobs so we may well cover more tasks in the one day. We've come up with the following...

Fresh air heater overhaul
Windscreen replacement
Fitting an inline fuel filter
Headlining replacement

One we've had on the back boiler for a while now is fitting a brake servo. We could make a day of that but there were no takers this time so one for another day, perhaps.
