MIND???? We will be delighted, Gary! I don't think I'm speaking out-of-turn saying we LOVE photos from wherever you happen to get to! :) There's some nice tackle in the background, as well as the Austins, so thank you for these.

photo's taken today at a vintage rally in Oylgate, Co. Wexford.

Image

and this one is from 1936

Image

and this is my baby, note the anti-pesto van, it gives the kids a laugh.

Image

and a small question - i lost one of my wheel rims, not the center hubcab, probably in one of the many potholes around here, just the outside rim, see the photo for the ones i still have and i have searched and not found any on the internet, then last week i was told that they might be from a mk2 cortina, was the person telling me this trying to wind me up? i find that is hard to believe any ideas?

bye for now,

They look like the ones I have on my Capri, so Cortina? Why not? These are a universal fitment, all you need is a 13" rim to slide them into, and many many cars wore 13" from the 60s to the 80s. I had dress rings like these on my Mk5 Cortina back in 91...

and now a further installment from the supergar files...for all you guys who like trucks and pickups, this time these were taken in the lobby of the Cork International Airport Hotel, can anybody top that for a place to find an old Austin???

anywho, we went to the Inishannon Steam Rally at the start of June this year and we could not find anywhere to stay around Inishannon so the nearest was Cork city and lo and behold look what they found in their lobby of the hotel we picked. now over several mineral waters late that first night the bar man told me a few stories about the Austin, but do you think i can remember one of them, so i'm presuming i had way too much ice in the mineral water if you know what i mean. the main thing i remember him saying was people keep robbing stuff from it and wedding parties get photo's taken in it. etc etc

so i dont even know the year, is this a specific model etc, so would anybody care to hazard a quess.

i personally really liked the yellow thingy in the center of the wheels.

so i hope you enjoy these photo's and will post some later in the week from the inishannon show itself.

all the best,
gary

Smashing photos chaps, looks like you are enjoying the good weather.

It's always great to see photos of other events and cars/vans some of us may not have seen before.

Those vehicles all look in excellent condition and well polished, keep up the good work.

If you have anymore to post i'm sure everyone will look forward to them with great interest.

It would be great to see some photos from the Netherlands and other countries too.

Keep those cameras handy. :D

Good man Keith, good to know that there are some Austin's up in Yeats country, keep 'em coming.

this is the only other Austin i took a snap of down in Inishannon.

Image

Both of these were taken at my local annual Gorey, Co. Wexford show, about 2 weeks ago. i took a couple up close of this white a30, think it was a '58, but i liked this photo better as it had the old petrol truck beside it.

Those orange reflectors were a universal accessory, I remember them in the 60s, usually on Ford Prefects. I suspect they may have been self-adhesive but don't quote me, as I've never been close enough to one to find out. You can probably still find them at autojumbles, or possibly on a well-known internet-based auction site. As a "period" accessory for your Austin, or even mine, they would be ideal. However, Annie won't be wearing hubcaps, so there's no point in me looking for these.

Mark, What colour was your van?
Richard, Yep Morris would of been more dominent than Austin over here, probably because of what was written on most Austin cars........
