Hi

I've just returned from a holiday in Vietnam.

This is the Austin Westminster A95 in which a Buddhist Monk last drove before burning himself alive in protest of the then government.

This A40 did well to drag that caravan all that way and presumably back again.

Wonderfully atmospheric period photo Paul, presumably from NZ’s south island by the Otago reference. Perhaps Dunedin as there are few other Otago towns likely to be able to justify a showroom of that size. Wonder if it’s related to the following former Austin workshop I spotted in Dunedin in 2009. Murray from Nelson might have an opinion? Apologies for the absence of baby Austins.

Chris, is that the Murray that we all saw at Hibaldstow ?

Incredibly enthusiastic A30 fan who I,d love to be put in touch with, even if just to apologise that he never did get a ride in TMT.

Hi Dave, yes! I’m hoping the fine fellow is lurking on here. I fear that my scrawled email address may have been unintelligible.

Old picture too as the horse sign has been changed for a schematic one...

Totally changed now as it's been renamed the Brass Windmill for some unknown reason...

The only good thing is that it's no longer owned by a pubco... so it's future is a little more certain...

George Fowler's Austin dealership at 11-17 North Street North Berwick, this is the rear of the main premises and the main entrance was off the High St (now a supermarket). The site is now occupied by some terraced houses although the pub the Auld Hoose still survives.

24th September 1954, an A30 zooms past people queuing to see the Temple of Mithras site in Cannon Street.
