A further question whilst we sort out the wiring.
The car has been laid up for a few months whilst we get on with life.
Half a tank of fuel in threre.
The hopeless fuel pump that came with the car has a new diaphram and is all cleaned out, but no amout of priming with the lever will get fuel flowing to the carb (nor will turning over the engine)
When priming, the usual wheezy sound of air to start with then a squeek from the diaphram, but it never gets to the slosh sound of fuel coming through.
Tried with the fuel pipe not connected to the carb, but same issue.
The lid is tight, seems as if the air in the pipe just flows back and forth ?
Same happens with fuel cap off.
Again, any suggestions ?
Thanks

Re: Fuel pump (not) priming
Remove the pump from the engine, fit the short pump to carb pipe in the other hole pointing downwards, place in liquid and 'prime' the pump. If it pumps now it's more than likely either...

Try Neils suggestions first but,............also did you change the valves? I found a big difference with new valves fitted and have done a few of these!

Re: Fuel pump (not) priming
Excellent advice re the valves,
I've recently re-commissioned my AS3 after a good few years and had a problem with the fuel pump, on and off for a while now, problems were running badly, cutting out, not accelerating and generally not behaving.
I finally took the plunge and pulled the pump off the car, I had previously fitted a new diaphragm, but this time I stripped everything, cleaned everything as best as possible, how I got those vales back I don't know, that was more luck than judgement.
I have just started the car first time in 3 days, no problem with no pump priming required and she's just done a 5 mile tip without any problem, in fact best she's driven for a good while.
Thanks for the comment and advice
Cheers
