Wiring or re-wiring
I just wondered what other people used to shrink heat-shrink when splicing wires into their car .. heat gun or going gently with the side of the soldering iron?

Re: Wiring or re-wiring
Have done it with both in the past, heat gun was better in my experience but it is possible to do it with a soldering iron. Just have to be careful not to burn it when using a soldering iron.

Re: Wiring or re-wiring
Heat gun for me...
Also available are the Solder Sleeves, approved as a repair by Rover in 1998. They come in four colour coded sizes.
I'm using this one as a splice to add an extra wire, in the centre is solder and flux and the red bands are sealant
Use the heat gun over the colour bands first, this will grip and seal the wires first. Then go for the solder and this will melt along with the tube shrinking over the top...
