valve oil seals
valve oil seals
Am I a complete moron or in need of 2 inch lenses in my glasses or were 803cc engines made without valve oil seals because I have recently stripped 2 803cc heads with the intention of grinding the valves and fitting new oil seals, but I cannot find any oil seals on the heads? I looked to establish whether they were ring or top hat type but the stems appear to exit the top of the heads and only protrude through metal? have the seals been omitted by a previous bodger? unlikely as both heads were sourced separately, or have they deteriorated to such an extent they have broken up and completely vanished? It would appear that there should be top hat type seals, . Please advise.
Re: valve oil seals
You should have as shown in the manual (pic attached), although in every head gasket kit I've had I've always received the tiny 'doughnut' rubbers that fit on the valve and don't seem to last long. When I tried to source the circlips from Mini Spares they told me they weren't used any more, I had some so used them.
