Hope someone can help me.
I am working on the engine in my Rosengart (basically a French Austin Seven)
The body of the distributor has broken, I reckon beyond repair.
However from my supply of A30/A35 distributors I see that the measurements are the same and it fits. (I have no idea if the distributor that is broken was original or not (it's an SEV)
Anyway what is the difference between all of the reference numbers
The one in my A30 is 40299 then possibly V (not E)
The rest in stock are
40561F
40569F
40897A
40569A
40854B
40299K
There is no advance/retard screw on the distributor in the Rosengart.
Thanks in advance

Re: Distributors
As a general comment, as petrol quality improved during the 1950s then the manufacturers would change the advance/retard on their distributors. Can't give you an answer on the letters.
The 40299 is an A30 distributor. The 40561 is a 948 MM (and probably A35)
The 40569 is a Newage (not sure what that is) industrial distributor.
The 40897 is a 1962 MGB.
The 40854 is a 25D4, not sure what this is for.
