Hi All
Having now encountered two rotor arm failures - the riveted ones Neill says are useless and should be smashed with a hammer!- I decided to buy a set of HT spark testers (and a proper rotor).
The testers go between the plugs and their HT leads and light up with each spark. Fitted the new rotor and using the slo-mo video on my phone I was able to confirm the plugs were firing in the correct order 1342.
So will be keeping the testers in the boot to easily diagnose any loss of HT in the future.
The pic shows number 2 plug sparking.
Hope this is of interest generally.

Re: Laser HT Lead Ignition Spark Tester
I had a similar one which at least proved I was getting a spark. I just had to move it along the leads.
Had though ... remember it's life ended when I ran it over! So will use a timing light now
