Comma X-Flow Type MOT 20W-50 Mineral Engine Oil
Just looking at getting some engine oil for the A30 and A35 and with anormally get ASDA or Morrisons basic stuff but they are not doing it
Looked at Comma X-Flow Type MOT 20W-50 Mineral Car Engine Motor Oil 4.5 Litre and this seems to meet the spec. Any comments fellow comrades? I need to get to the International Rally on a full and adequate sump full of oil?
Thanks

With admittedly no scientific nor technical nous whatsoever, it certainly looks to me like something I’d buy in preference to a supermarket own-brand. The tech specs appear broadly similar to my current preferred Morris Golden Film SAE 20w-50 Classic Motor Oil, which I buy in 25L drums with free delivery and a 10% club discount (active as recently as December): http://www.morrislubricantsonline.co.uk ... r-oil.html

Both Comma X-Flow and Morris Golden Film will do the job. But I'm intrigued why Comma do not quote an API rating on their data sheet with only generalised API references elsewhere. Morris quote API CC/SF performance levels.
For that reason alone, I would buy Morris Golden Film...

I use Wilco's oil, looks suspiciously similar to the Morris classic oil but wait for BD to disprove my lack of knowledge based theory!

Exactly the sort of erudite wheat-from-chaff observation I was hoping for, thanks BD!Big Daddy wrote:Comma do not quote an API rating

Wonder if the Club should talk to Opie Oils? .. and get some discounts on their products .. they have schemes for other car/owners clubs .. some are just "virtual" clubs with a website/forum

I always use Pennasol 20/50 both in the A35 and the boat diesel engine.
It's great stuff - get it from Park Automotive at Leeds about 11.95 for 5 litres. You get free delivery if you order a batch.

Bought some Bilt-Hamber and couple of air filters(!) from them but no oil yet. I can get discounts through other owners club sites but I'll discuss it at NCM on Saturday.Alan wrote:great company to deal with.
