Stuck rear frame cylinder
After renewing the front brake cylinders and managing to replace the rear frame cylinder boot in situ, there still appears to be a leak from the rear frame cylinder. I've tried to get it off the car to inspect it properly but the brake line into the unit just won't budge. Any suggestions for removal? I've tried 3-in-1 and a bit of heat (not too much!) but the 7/16 union looks pretty chewed already. Any help greatly appreciated, this is the final bit of fettling before it's back on the road! (oh, and a new water pump ...)

Undo the pipe at the master cylinder end...

It sounds so simple when you put it that way!

3-in-1 isn't really much help. Get yourself a couple of cans of good penetrating fluid ... you will need them ... and not WD40.

Re: Stuck rear frame cylinder
Got some plus gas and that did the job getting the pipe off the master cylinder so thank you both Neil and Gazza82!
Still a bit flummoxed as even with a new boot on the rear cylinder seems to be leaking. Couldn't get the piston off at all to had to slide the master cylinder rearwards off it - am I doing this completely bum about face?

Re: Stuck rear frame cylinder
The boot is only intended to keep the dust and road spray out. There's a rubber cup seal under the piston that's meant to keep the brake fluid in, so it's likely that this needs attention...

Re: Stuck rear frame cylinder
If it's leaking and old with rusted up unions, chances are the bore will have some corrosion so only real safe option in my book is a reconditioned cylinder, club spares do them.

Re: Stuck rear frame cylinder
Just an update - I took both the frame cylinder and master cylinder apart and refurbed with new seals etc. All working well now with no leaks, thanks again for everyone's help
