FAN tastic Bang !

Post by biffsA30 »

The old girl has been vibrating recently on driving.
checked everything i could under the bonnet, tried it in gear , out of gear , no joy .. :study:
so I thought i would pop it down to my friendly garage :D
on the gentle drive down there an almighty bang from under the bonnet, peered inside to see 1/2 my metal radiator fan sitting on top of the battery.
Hello i thought , that doesnt belong there !
must have been partially detached and out of balance hence the vibs

do these things fail often guys?

Often happens when the reinforcing plate on the front of the fan has been left off.

Not all cars had them... the reinforcing plate was a factory upgrade, well into A30 production...

Known as product development by the customer. Carried on through to the British Leyland days...
