Not starting after fiddling with the carb

Post by liammedler »

In an effort to try to get my A30 running sweet I tweeked the 2 screws on the HS2 SU carb and now it won't even start as a result. It will occasionally splutter but won't run at all. Is there a way of resetting the carb tune without the car running? Any help would be great

Thanks, Liam

Which two screws do you mean...

To get the basic setting, first remove the dashpot and piston assembly so that you can see the top of the jet. Turn the jet adjuster nut up until the jet is level with the bridge inside the carburettor, then turn the jet adjuster nut down two full turns. That should bring it near enough for the engine to be able to run...

Cheers Neil, I did as you instructed and the car ran enough for me to tweak the fast idle screw and jet adjusting screw so now it runs fine :)
