Post by hodge2 »

Hi Guys

After bringing my a35 van back f rom test station and sorting there request tyres so put 4new ones on
New screen washer.kit with electric pump
Brake lightbulb
Main beams showing wrong
Stiff sterring
Left suspension new rubber stop
And bearing.

Nota bad list
All sorted ready to return for pass cert
After returning from test engine running okay
Then when dropped of ramp
Wouldn't start
Reading club mag off a member whose engine came to stop
And then wouldn't start he had read that if there's no air hole in petrol cap to take it of and leave for a while
and when he tried it after a while it started and has not run since
)So I've removed my petrol cap to see if it works for me after a while let you know I; if works

Also when it returned from the test the drivers side barrel lock dropped out b even trying all over to find one
Talk about jinked, vehicle I think I've got one

Funny if it was running OK before MOT.

I'd check spark at dizzy points, reset gap and ensure they are opening on every cam on dizzy shaft. Also check small earth lead from dizzy body to base plate, they are thin and often shed their ends.

HT leads - take them off in turn, hold with a pair of insulated pliers close to cylinder head and get a mate to turn engine over with ignition on. You should see a spark. If not check dizzy cap for cracks - tracking out - best done in a darkened room - bedroom and lounge not included in this - If dizzy cap OK check connections on coil and plugs.

Check engine timing.

I take it you've checked for a good supply of fuel at carb by disconnecting fuel pipe and cranking engine and shooting fuel into a jar - best done with ignition off.
