Windscreen Rubbers

Post by Edosan »

Any update on best supplier of these rubbers, did a search on the forum and there seemed to be concerns about early cracking around the corners, has this been improved by anyone? Does Pete Norbury do one and do our club spares do one. I notice it's not on current list but there is a reference to one on the forum.
I replaced mine originally soon after I bought it about 30 years ago and it was a one piece.Fitted perfectly and easily with no sealant and no leaks for about 30 years, finally cracked around drivers corner and is leaking badly in heavy rain. Will probably use sealant as a temporary fix but wondered where best to go for the more permanent fix. Thanks Ed

I know the club are looking for a suitable supplier, but haven't found one yet. I have a sneaky feeling that most of the rubbers available are supplied (perhaps made) by Baines.

Our screen got smashed earlier this year so when we put a laminated one in we used a rubber from B.M.
It went in easily using 2 ropes and seems to fit really well ! No leaks or anything so far....
Cheers.

HI

I found that this product was really good at filling in cracks in the windshield rubber corners. I wouldn't use it as a sealant as such, but it sticks well and sets like rubber.

Hi Nick, it's not listed in the magazine and it's not on the Website, rear screen is for instance and nobody has responded for definite that the club sells one and it's OK. Happy to consider if there definitely is one, I'll check with Tim just to be sure.

Last I heard the club were still approaching companies to get quotes for new windscreen rubbers. Might be worth asking Robert Prinn as, unlike BM he doesn't charge VAT!

Once got hit by a board rubber thrown by our religious knowledge teacher, around 1969 I think. It ricocheted out of the classroom window and I was sent to retrieve it.
Suited me as I had a sneaky fag in the undergrowth below the classroom window and missed several chapters of the bible.
Sorry, going a bit off topic here but on a serious note I had no trouble getting a30 window rubbers through Charles Wares M***r Centre in Bristol, about 4 years ago.
