On starting to re-fit the handbrake lever I found that I am missing what the workshop manual describes as a "support flange". This is, I assume, the pile if aluminium oxide which fell out when I removed the handbrake.
What's it do, do I need it and if so, is it available from anywhere?

Re: Handbrake components
I think you mean the aluminium dust cover, that that goes over the hand brake rod and attached to the inner sill.
If that's it the club spares scheme have them, and they can be either fitted whole or cut and inserted in 2 pieces tyo save stripping everything down.

Won't be necessary as our friend here has already got the handbrake assembly in pieces and has established many times over that he can weld...A40FARINAGURU wrote: Stan suggested that by Araldite them back together...

Re: Handbrake components
Thanks folks, I did wonder if that was what it was but was put off by the Workshop Manual's term "support"
