why don't you make a square out of wood using 3" x 2" & buy some cheap casters & use coach bolts to fix them to the wood

The set (4 off ) of wheel skids arrived today by PDP. Got them from a german seller on e bay for £70 including postage. Just have to attach the wheels. I for some reason thought the saloon I am going to pick up next week only had 2 doors but after looking at some of the photos it is 4 door. Is there such a thing as a 2 door a35 car.

yes there were 2 door A30's & A35's they are more common as they were cheaper than a 4 door model :study:

Yes. Both the A30 and A35 were made in 2 and 4 door configurations ..

2-door A35s are sought after for the Academy racing fraternity .. but they aren't having mine!

Isn't there still a caveat in the rules to say that you need permission to use an A30 shell? Why? Do they have some sort of advantage over the A35? Lighter?

It's probably just coincidence as A30s were amongst the best prepared cars at Goodwood... I've heard that Neil Brown spent 7k on paint alone... and were driven by the best drivers... Andrew Jordan and Gordon Shedden... both British Touring Car Championship winners.

I don't think there's a lot of difference in the weight of an A30 shell compared to an A35, though I do know for certain that both the Jordan/Jordan and Brown/Shedden A30's had been in the dip tank, which removes all of the original lead loading, sound deadening and sealers etc. (some of the racers I've seen still have underseal on them...) There was definitely no attempt to lighten these top shells further by controlled rusting and multiple dipping. There's also a minimum weight that 'Academy' cars have to comply with, before they can race...

Both of the shells were stitch seam welded throughout... as allowed by the rules... which would improve the rigidity. Many 'Academy' shells are not...
