803cc piston rings

Post by 16Cabulrd »

my 803cc engine is stamped with a diamond shape containing a figure 3 on each piston and adjacent block. I presume these are standard size as I believe they would be stamped +20, +30 Etc. am I correct? Also I have found it impossible to locate a set of standard rings for the 803, any assistance in obtaining same would be much appreciated.

they are original 'MOWOG' pistons, the number in the diamond denotes the grade which is should also be marked on the top face of the block, basically the factory matched the pistons to the block, there are also grade 2 etc

So they could be oversize if the engine has had a factory 'gold seal' rebuild?

Has the engine still got its engine number tag fitted?

My A35s 948 is a goldseal and I remember seeing an oversize mark on pistons when we decoked it.

Can't remember if they were plus .010 or .020 though.

The club sells +020/030/040 803cc rings for £12 a set. If you want standard rings ESM sell them for £90.
