Windscreen

Post by ian24ian »

I have managed to at last locate a windscreen near to me. I was covered in dust and overspray, cleaning it off, I cant find any kite mark or any mark for that matter, is that usual??

Regular screens have kite and/or legal certification compliance codes marked on them.

But A35 screen is unusual by being entirely flat with no curvature, which means yours may have been cut from a larger sheet. Is your screen toughened, laminated or something inferior :?:

Just jetwashed it, and found a very light kite mark on it, also says toughened, PHEW, I thought I had acquired a screen made from un-toughened glass, it also appears to have a 1989 date on it, ..... so its a repro?

If it is a Triplex screen Nick you can date it from the position of the dots round the kitemark - I,m sure you knew that ?

BS 857:1967 Specification for Safety Glass for Land Transport published June 1967 seems to be superseded by:

ISO 3537:1975 Road vehicles - Safety glasses - Test Methods for Mechanical Properties published December 1975 (now on 4th edition published April 2015)
